Winter Wanderer

The musical <Winter Wanderer> returns as a newly recreated production to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the late author Choi In-ho. Based on the novel by the great figure of modern Korean literature, the late Choi In-ho, has been adapted into a musical. The original novel, "The Eternal Portrait of Youth," is a seminal work that led the popular culture of its time and is one of Choi In-ho's representative works. It was serialized in the Dong-a Ilbo for over a year starting in 1984 and was adapted into a film in 1986 by the late director Kwak Ji-kyun, starring Kang Suk-woo, Ahn Sung-ki, and Lee Mi-sook, and into a drama in 1989 starring Son Chang-min and Kim Hee-ae. The story revolves around the pure and beautiful love that everyone dreams of once and the lost innocent days of youth.

In 1997, it was produced as a musical to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and was performed at the Opera House. That year, it won several awards at the Korean Musical Awards, including Best Musical, Best New Actor, Best Art, and a Special Award. Subsequently, it was staged again at the National Theater in December 2005. In the winter of 2023, makes a comeback with a new sensibility, led by producer Yoon Hong-sun and artistic director Yoon Ho-jin, with direction by Kim Min-young, composition by Kim Hyung-suk, lyrics by Yang Jae-sun, and music/composition by Shin Eun-kyung. The creative team also includes stage designer Park Dong-woo and lighting designer Koo Yoon-young. The musical is set to be reborn as a work that maintains the emotional impact of the classics but showcases a new harmony suited to the changed times, alongside a beautiful stage reminiscent of a landscape painting and an orchestra of 13 musicians.
